法式线脚不是一条平线，而是有层次的剖面。常见做法是外宽内窄，形成两道阴影。线脚越窄越现代，越宽越古典。French moulding is not a flat line but a layered profile, typically wider outside and narrower inside to create two shadows. 门扇通常分两格或三格。上格比下格高，视觉上才稳。如果上下等高，门会显得矮而笨。Leaves are usually divided into two or three panels. The upper panel is taller than the lower, which is what makes it read stable.
